From the trees

Ever have one of those days where you feel like God was all over it, and nothing big happened? Yesterday was like that.

We started the day out with getting awakened by our three year old, Tristan, who jumped into bed with us. After about 20 minutes, he decided it was time to wrestle instead of snooze.

Then we had a gathering with our clan and Shammah’s clan (clans are really just small groups of households to help us take care of each other better–it can be easy to get missed in the shuffle of almost 300 people) out on the hill behind our house. It was a gorgeous day, and it was wonderful to praise God out in the sunshine and wind.

We ate lunch with friends, talked to more friends, played with our boys and their friends, and went on a walk to “the Enchanted Forest,” which are the woods at the top of the hill in the back pasture. I climbed to the top of a tree at the top of the hill, where I got this photo on my phone, then had an acorn war with the seven kids we had tagging along with us, and built a fairy fort out of sticks and acorns.

I love when God meets you in the simple things like playing with children and looking at the world from the top of a tree.
